Doula
“Birthworker gave me clarity, confidence, and a framework to turn my passion into a career.”
Last year, I was a stay-at-home mom with three kids under three, desperately searching for a way to make income from home without losing all my time with my babies. I looked into every MLM out there, hair products, health drinks, you name it, but it all felt so fake. I couldn’t pretend to be passionate about selling something I didn’t believe in.
Then, one day, a doula account I followed shared about an epic deal for doula training. I signed up faster than I’ve ever signed up for anything in my life. The moment I dove into the Birthworker Academy videos, I felt like I’d found exactly what I had been missing.
Birthwork just made sense for me. I’d had three unmedicated births, a preemie at 30 weeks, struggled with breastfeeding and mastitis, and even failed natural family planning. I already loved talking about birth and sharing tips, but now I had a framework and a path to turn my passion into a career.
Within just five months of joining Birthworker Academy, everything started to shift. I built a website I actually love, figured out my niche, and learned more about business and marketing than I ever thought I would (and enjoyed some of it, too). I came out of my introverted shell, started making reels on Instagram, and joined an accountability pod that has been such a lifeline. The reading assignments in the Academy gave me clarity and answered questions I didn’t even know how to ask.
In those first months, I attended my very first birth, got an amazing review, made tons of new friends through networking, and even started to feel excited about things I used to think were “crazy”, like planning a homebirth for my next baby. Most importantly, I felt like I had rediscovered myself. Motherhood is still my heart, but now I have something beyond it that lights me up.
Some of my proudest milestones this year have been creating my website, attending my first birth, getting my first review posted, hitting 400+ Instagram followers, and finally starting to attract client leads. And the networking? So much networking, and so many connections I never imagined I’d have.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to streamline my payment systems, sell calligraphy birth affirmation cards, and start booking at least one client per month. I’m saving up for a camera to add photography to my services, planning to create a postpartum meal prep offering (and maybe even a cookbook), and dreaming of joining an aligned agency. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m building a future I truly love.
