A year ago, I was four months postpartum, back at my full-time job, and absolutely miserable. I wanted nothing more than to spend more time with my baby, but I felt trapped. I had my doula certification and mentorship under my belt, but I had no clue how to get clients or actually start a business. I felt stuck, helpless, and angry, like I was paying someone else to raise my child while I worked 40 hours a week doing something that didn’t light me up.

Everything changed when I discovered the Birthworker Podcast. It lit a fire inside me. Just from listening, I took action: I filed my LLC, created social media accounts, and built my first website. That alone felt huge. However, when I joined the Birthworker Community and immersed myself in the programs, the real transformation occurred.

With the tools and support inside Birthworker Academy, CBE, and Doulapreneur Method, I went from floundering to focused. I nailed down my messaging, clarified my brand, and found a clear vision: helping families cultivate mindfulness to support their birth experience. For the first time, I don’t just feel like I have a doula business, I feel like I’m building something profitable and sustainable that works for me and my family.

Some of the highlights from this year have been incredible: creating a partnership with a local kids’ gymnastics center (which led to even more business introductions), booking a client straight from my website, and completing the CBE training so I can expand into childbirth education.

I also overcame the mental and emotional struggle I felt in postpartum. I committed to shifting my mindset with meditation, journaling, and yoga, and I stopped waiting for someone else to change my circumstances. I decided I could, and would, build the life I wanted.

Looking forward, I’m raising my prices, simplifying to one signature package (thanks to Kyleigh's guidance), and preparing to launch a podcast with guided meditations and affirmations for pregnancy. I’m adding in-home CBE to my services and drafting my first digital course, which will feature guest experts like a pelvic floor therapist. The vision feels crystal clear now.
